On May 10, 2018, on the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Crimean Tatar Genocide Victims, which is also celebrated as the Day of the struggle for the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainian Crimean Tatar activists visited Riga for one evening. Former political prisoner, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Akhtem Chiygoz and Director of the Crimean Institute for Strategic Studies Arsen Zhumadilov spoke on their activities, current situation, struggle and prospects of the Crimean Tatar people. Dureing the meeting the audience had the chance to see the photography exhibition “Premature Adulthood of Crimean Children”. The photographs of Russian journalist Anton Naumlyuk show children from families of Crimean political prisoners growing up without parental care.
The event was held at 17:00 in Art Gallery “Happy Art Museum”, 7th level of Shopping mall Galleria Riga, Dzirnavu Street 67.
The event was organized by NGOs Baltic-Black Sea Alliance (BBSA) and the European Russian Initiative (EuroRussians) with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia.
